It is now an established fact that a ‘common’ man’s marriage differs from the marriage of the ‘stars.’ Through various very public marriages and divorces, Egyptian actresses have proved beyond a doubt that the life of a star is destined to be different. In an interview with Al Masa’a newspaper, four of Egypt’s most shining actresses met up to discuss their ideas of marriage.
Following is what Nabila Ebeid, Ilham Shahine, Yusra and Mona Zaka had to say:
Nabila Ebeid: It has been a year now that Nabila Ebeid is living in a state of confusion. She has been in a constant preoccupation due to a love affair she is currently undergoing. Nabila has been thinking of whether to quit her career or her relationship; as asked by her ‘significant other.’
Ebeid has already revealed to the public that her ‘knight in shining armor’ is a Lebanese businessman who commutes between Lebanon and London. However, recently, the actress declared that she does not intend to let go of her career and said that the idea of marriage has to be ‘put off’ for a while.
Ilham Shahine: Ilham Shahine has currently confessed to the mistake she had made in having a relationship with businessman Anwar Qadoura; after living a life of physical and mental abuse for years.
“Life has taught me to be a housewife and a ‘man’ at the same time. ‘Masculinity’ is not a term only for men. I generally think that that I am like any woman; searching for a man she can trust, respect and love. All I wanted was to live with the man I love as a family joined by love and understanding.”
“However, life has also taught me to be patient; especially in such matters. But, I cannot hide that the biggest dream I have is to have a great family.”
Yusra: Yusra has just recently been able to retaliate against rumors that she had eloped with director Khaled Sleem. The rumors grew bigger and bigger when gossipmongers started revealing that the two were also neighbors. Yusra and Sleem didn’t help much; the two took on every opportunity to appear in public together, going to any function they were invited to as a couple.
“There is not one woman in the world who does not aspire to be married, stable and have a happy family. I am of course one of these woman,” she has said.
Mona Zaka: Zaka just recently broken up with her fiancé Mohammad Al Shaqanqeeri. Following her starring role with Mohammad Hneidi in Sai’di Fil Jami’a Al Amerkia (Said’di at the American University), rumors spread like butter, stating that the duo were having a secret relationship. Owever, Hneidi soon put the fire out by getting married to actress Abir El Ass’ad.
Mona has said “When I was engaged to Mohammad, I was 16 years old; it is an age that does not allow for clear and objective thinking because a female of that age is not very mature. Meanwhile, as for Hneidi, I loved his sense of humor and I respect him as a colleague; but there was nothing between us. I am now looking for a man to love and respect.” – Albawaba.com.
