UAE President Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan on Friday received at his residence in Geneva the UN's special representative to Afghanistan, Lakhdar Ibrahimi.
During the meeting, they discussed international efforts to combat terrorism and the role of the UN in achieving peace and stability in Afghanistan, reported the official Emirati news agency (WAM).
The UAE severed its ties with Afghanistan's ruling Taliban militia after the terrorist attacks on Washington and New York, because of the regime's hosting of alleged terrorist ringleader Osama bin Laden.
However, Sheikh Zayed has ordered humanitarian aid to be sent to the tens of thousands of impoverished Afghan refugees currently fleeing the threat of US military strikes - Albawaba.com
