ALBAWABA - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky arrived in the Turkish capital, Ankara, amid expected peace talks with Russia, The Kyiv Independent reported.
Later today, the Ukrainian president is expected to hold talks with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
A Russian delegation arrived in Turkey for peace talks with the Ukrainian delegation in Istanbul, according to Russian media.
On Thursday, US President Donald Trump said while on his Middle East trip that he is still willing to go to Turkey on Friday if enough progress is made in the Istanbul peace talks between Russia and Ukraine.
"I was thinking about going...If something happened, I'd go on Friday if it was appropriate," Trump revealed during his visit to Qatar.
Earlier, Putin said he would not attend peace talks with Ukraine in Istanbul, Turkey. In response, Ukraine's President Zelensky said he would only attend the talks if Putin was there.
Furthermore, NATO head Mark Rutte says he is "cautiously optimistic" for a breakthrough in Ukraine-Russia peace talks as he is currently in Turkey and he held a meeting with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Ankara.
