Zybez Down, worried Runescape gamers panic at website fail

Published June 17th, 2009 - 01:25 GMT

Online gamers are in a bind as zybez.net, a community fan site devoted to the 8.5 million strong UK-based RuneScape online role-playing world, is down.  Panicked users currently await the site’s return after its crash on Wednesday, likely resulting from an overwhelming burst of recent web traffic. Zybez is hosted in the US by web hosting company The Planet.

Zybez is one among many fan-operated websites connected to RuneScape. In addition to providing game assistance and quest guides, the website’s prime function is community: it brings together gamers through forums, blogs and live chats. In its forums, players participate in game discussions, coordinate gaming logistics, suggest improvements for the game and ultimately interact with a large international community.

The duration of the website’s downtime remains unclear, but gamers will be eager to return to the site as soon as possible.
