Hamas leader, Dr. Abdel Aziz al Rantisi scoffed Thursday at reports circulated by the Israeli media about an alleged recorded cassette for a telephone conversation between Mrs. Rantisi and a Hamas recruiter. The Israeli media claimed that Mrs. Rantisi turned down the recruiter’s request to send her son for a suicide bomb attack in Israel.

The Israeli radio said it would broadcast the conversation during the evening hours and that it will be aired by the Israeli satellite TV.

Responding to a question by Albawaba.com through the telephone about this affair, Rantisi said, “this incident took place 10 years ago when my son Mohammed was young and I was in the Negev desert prison.” He added that his wife told him that an Israeli officer contacted and asked her to send her son Mohammed to carry out a martyrdom operation but she turned down his request when she felt there was a trick.

“First of all, al Qassam Brigades do not use telephone for recruiting people to carry out martyrdom operations and they do not request mothers for such purposes,” said Rantisi. He added “any lady in the same position of my wife at that time, with her husband in prison and her house and telephone being under constant surveillance, would naturally reject such a request as a precautionary measure to protect her children and family.” (Albawaba.com)
