ALBAWABA - Protesters thronged into the streets of Iran Friday following an announcement on the death of an Iranian woman, called Mahsa Amini, 22.
Speculation mounted that Amini was killed by the morality police for wearing the Hijab in what was claimed to be an "incorrect way."
At least 11 people were killed in the protests, including four security personnel.
During the rallies, protesters shouted slogans against the Iranian government and the Islamic regime. "Death to the dictator," people were heard chanting.
Human rights groups said the latest protests across Iran could signal "a big change". The death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini on Sept. 16, 2022 has triggered wide anger in the country and abroad as many famous celebrities denounced her death and called for a full investigation into the circumstances of Amini's death.
Protests were also held outside the Iranian embassy in Turkey to denounce Amini's. Kurdish and Lebanese women rallied in Beirut on Sept. 21, 2022, days after the Iranian authorities announced her death.
