ALBAWABA - Muslims online were angered after a picture was posted on social media of a pig's head near a mosque in the French capital, Paris.

The incident has raised concerns stressing that Muslims are marking the holy month of Ramadan as well as this was not the first of its kind. Earlier, two similar incidents were reported in two different other mosques.

According to French sources, the country's Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin decried the incident and labelled it as "unacceptable acts" against the Muslim community.

The statement by the French minister came after the head of a "wild pig" was discovered near a mosque in the east of the country.

Furthermore, an investigation was launched by a prosecutor into "incitement to racial hatred" amid the discovery of a pig's head at a mosque in the village of Contrexeville in the Vosges region last Friday.

Nonetheless, Darmanin further added in a post on X (formerly Twitter) that two other mosques in northern France were also "degraded" with similar incidents.

In the post, he said: "This weekend mosques in Valenciennes and Fresnes-sur-Escaut were degraded. A mosque in the Vosges was also targeted. I firmly condemn these unacceptable acts against our Muslim compatriots."
