ALBAWABA - Balenciaga, the Luxury Spanish fashion brand, has been under fire after being accused of cultural appropriation and stealing famous Moroccan traditional shoes called "Belgha."
According to sources, Balenciaga has lately uncovered its new MEN'S FLAT MULE designs, which clearly look like the "Belgha" from the Moroccan culture.
Activists blasted and accused it of cultural appropriation after the Spanish fashion brand skipped mentioning that its newly released slipper was inspired by the Moroccan traditional "Belgha".
A person wrote on Reddit: "Not even saying they were inspired by Morocco," in a post that was showcasing the new Balenciaga slipper.

The controversial fashion house, Balenciaga, has uncovered its latest slipper design under the price of around $995 causing wide controversy among Moroccans.
Shop owners in Morocco have further lashed out at the fashion house, Balenciaga, due to its expensive slipper price and said that their homemade Belgha is priced between MAD 100 ($9.96) to MAD 500 ($49.81).
What's the Belgha?
Belgha also spelled balga, belgha, or belga, are heelless slippers made from leather. They are part of the traditional dresses of the Maghreb region. Balghas are worn by men and women of all social classes, both in urban and rural areas.
