ALBAWABA - Official FC Barcelona's Arabic account on X (formerly Twitter) was heavily blasted after a post promoting LGBTQ+ rights.

In a post, the official account posted a photo of a building with the club's logo and the Pride flag. It captioned it: "International Day Against LGBT Hate in Sport."

The Official FC Barcelona's Arabic account also continued: "We work for a sport that respects sexual and gender diversity, based on equality and freedom."

Kuwaiti Imam Mishary Rashid Alafasy reposted the photo, slammed the Spanish football club, and wrote: "You're terrible at playing and you also have no morals?"

Another added: "Respect your Arab followers and Arab fans, most of whom are Muslims." A person commented: "It will not be accepted or imposed on the Arab peoples, regardless of the sources."

According to Spanish media, the world marks every  Feb. 19, the International Day Against Homophobia in Soccer. This day commemorates the birth of Justin Fashanu – the first front-line footballer to come out of the closet in the media openly.
