ALBAWABA - A shocking detail was revealed by the Washington Post about the grandfather of US President Joe Biden. He stabbed a man and almost killed him but was pardoned.

According to a leaked document from the US National Archives, the Washington Post said that Biden's grandfather stabbed his colleague using a knife, and was convicted of attempted murder.

The documents also revealed that the grandfather of the US president was sentenced to two years in prison after failing to convince the court that the accident was self-defense.

The Washington Post added Biden's great-grandfather was charged with attempted murder after a Civil War-era altercation, but was pardoned by former US President Abraham Lincoln.

The documents further noted that Lincoln pardoned Biden's grandfather, Moses J. Robinette, after the latter got into a fight with his colleague in the Union Army, John J. Alexander, in Virginia.

Furthermore, after the court sentence, three armed men appealed the conviction to Lincoln, arguing that it was too harsh, and succeeded in getting Lincoln's approval for the pardon, which was granted on Sept. 1, 1864.
