ALBAWABA - Pro-Palestinian activists heavily blasted and criticized the American news network CNN after its headline on an Israeli soldier shooting a disabled Palestinian.
In a bold huge title, CNN English wrote: "Video shows man in military fatigues shooting mentally disabled Palestinian in West Bank."
Instead of using the term "Israeli soldier" while covering the news about the shooting of a mentally disabled Palestinian in the West Bank, CNN used the term "man in military fatigues".
CNN detailed that Diaa Abu Abed, the brother of the disabled Palestinian, said that Israeli soldiers were behind the shooting of his brother Tariq Abu Abed, known as Al-Ghazawi.
Moreover, the Israeli army later confirmed to CNN that "Israeli soldiers had been involved in a confrontation with a mentally disabled man near Hebron on Tuesday and said its Military Police were investigating the encounter."
Advocates and activists including, Radio host and Author Samar D Jarrah, have taken to their social media to blast the twisted title shared by CNN English. Jarrah wrote: "What 'Man in military fatigues' Not Israeli Soldier? The level of US media attempts to protect Genocide is immoral."
Meanwhile, CNN Arabic posted the same video on its Arabic news website and wrote the title: "فيديو يُظهر جنديًا إسرائيليًا يطلق النار على فلسطيني من "ذوي الإعاقة العقلية" بعد نشوب جدال (Which means: Video shows an Israeli soldier shooting a “mentally disabled” Palestinian after an argument)."
The Palestinian News Agency WAFA explained that the Israeli occupation forces fired live bullets on Tuesday at the entrance to Khirbet Qalqas, south of Hebron, directly targeting the young man, Tariq Al-Ghazawi, who is disabled, causing injury to his leg.
The man, 34, was taken to the hospital to get medical care. A video showing the moment an Israeli soldier shot the disabled Palestinian was widely shared on social media.
