ALBAWABA - An Iranian official allegedly said on March 7 that Tehran is holding several American soldiers captive amid escalating tension between Iran, Israel and the United States.

The Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran, Ali Larijani, said that it has been reported that "several American soldiers have been taken prisoner."

He wrote on X, "It has been reported to me that several American soldiers have been taken prisoner. But the Americans claim that they have been killed in action."

Larijani added, "Despite their futile efforts, the truth is not something they can hide for too long."

However, the official didn't provide any details about the incident or its circumstances.

Larijani mentioned: "They [the United States] are promoting a misleading narrative claiming that five or six American soldiers were killed, and then, over time, they gradually increase the death toll under various pretexts, such as accidents or fabricated incidents."

On the other hand, the U.S. quickly refuted the claim that several American service members were taken by Tehan.

"The Iranian regime is doing everything it can to peddle lies and deceive. ‌This is yet another clear example," U.S. Navy Captain Tim Hawkins commented on Iran'a allegations.

A week after Washington and Tel Aviv launched a joint attack on Iran, the U.S. Central Command announced the deaths of six soldiers in separate incidents.
