ALBAWABA - A video has circulated on social media claiming that the Islamic State, commonly known as ISIS, has declared war on Hamas, the Palestinian resistance group.
In the clip, that social media users virally shared triggering massive engagement online, a man who is allegedly said to be a member of ISIS was seen talking in the background.
The footage has a voiceover of a man who was saying: "ISIS group in Sinai is attacking Hamas and incites against it." The person continued to say: "What draws more attention in the video statement where the Islamic State attacked Hamas is the tough tone used."
The video also allegedly claimed that in the statement ISIS sentenced to death one of its members who was accused of military support for Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas.
In the footage, the man in the voice-over also claimed that ISIS also attacked all military leaders of Hamas since its creation, including Sheikh Ahmed Ismail Hassan Yassin, the one who founded the Palestinian resistance movement.
At the end, the sentence: "It is a clear atonement for Hamas and a declaration of war," was heard.
What's the truth behind the video:
Despite that the video was shared widely on social media, however, it was not covered by any trusted media sources or shared by any ISIS-controlled TV channels.
Many activists online launched a debate as some said that the video could be fake or generated by Artificial Intelligence (AI), especially since it has a voice-over and the voice of the man who was allegedly said to be an ISIS member was not heard at all.
Another person posted on X a screenshot from YouTube saying that the video dates back to 2018 when the "Sinai branch of ISIS declared war on Hamas".
Till this moment, no official source by the ISIS group has officially declared war on Hamas.
