ALBAWABA - Sinai for Human Rights organization reported that it captured leaked photos of a huge, secret prison complex allegedly built by the Egyptian government in Sinai. The construction of the complex is said to begin in late 2021.
In detail, the human rights organization said that authorities are establishing an alleged huge prison complex in an isolated desert area near the village of Al-Jafjafa in the city of Al-Hasana, in an "almost secret manner."
According to the organization, the 'prison complex' is said to be affiliated with the Ministry of Interior, while its construction is supervised by the Armed Forces Engineering Authority.
Initial unconfirmed data reveal that the new prison complex's capability is about 20,000 prisoners, which almost equals the number of residents of the area in 2021; which was 22680.

Sinai for Human Rights organization said that the complex consists of:
1. Four prisons (typical), each with a capacity of 3,360 inmates (area of 7,794 square metres), three of which are men’s prisons, and one of which is for men and women.
2. Two high-security prisons, each with a capacity of 3,312 inmates (area of 38,400).
3. Two court complexes, each with 8 halls.
4. Two collective officer housing buildings, each with a capacity of 48 officers.
5. Two family officer housing buildings, 11 units each.
6. Two residential buildings for individuals and workers, each with a capacity of 360 people.
7. A conscript battalion building with a capacity of 600 conscripts.
8. 14 observation towers, 25 meters high.
9. 358 guard towers, 9 meters high.
According to the human rights group's official website, the under-construction prison complex is likely to host prisoners from outside the Sinai region. As well as, according to open-source maps, the prison is located in a mountainous desert area, which makes reaching it very hard.
