ALBAWABA - A man in Egypt was recently arrested for five years after he tried to sell his child on Facebook's marketplace in Giza triggering debate across social media outlets including Instagram and X (formerly known as Twitter).
The sentence came from Cairo's Criminal Court which also imposed a 100,000 Egyptian pound fine on the suspect in question but social media users were surprised to find out that the man was only sentenced to five years in prison calling it "unfair" for the child and their family.

According to Al-Quds Al-Arabi, the suspect restored to selling his child on the social media platform due to financial constraints. Users took to social media platforms to voice their opinions about the issue at hand. Here's what they had to say:
