ALBAWABA - A crime has shaken the Egyptian community after a small child was found horribly killed with his hands and legs cut off, local media reported on Sunday.
Days after the kid was announced missing by his parents, police called the family to identify a child they found killed and thrown in one of the agricultural lands in Upper Egypt.
A 6-year-old child, identified as Mohammad Abu Al-Wafa, went missing in Assiut Governorate during Eid Al-Adha. Days after, the police found him killed and his body parts were cut off in a shocking way.
An investigation was launched by the Egyptian authorities to probe the reasons behind the horrific crime and the reason was mind-blowing.
According to local media, the probe led to that the killer was the child's cousin following the questioning of witnesses and by looking at the cameras.
The police arrested the cousin and he was prosecuted. He confessed to committing the crime of slaughtering the child and offering him as a "sacrifice" to an archaeological cemetery "in implementation of the order of the sheikh who will take out the antiquities."
Egypt's Public Prosecution ordered the defendants to be detained for 4 days pending investigation, subject to renewal on the specified date.
