ALBAWABA - Social media sources uncovered pictures reportedly showing the building where the head of Hamas, Ismail Haniyeh, was staying in the capital, Tehran which was targeted by a missile.

Ismail Haniyeh and one of his bodyguards were killed in a rocket attack that targeted their residency in the Iranian capital after the Hamas chief was on a visit to attend the inauguration ceremony of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.

In its first statement, Hamas said the movement's leader was killed in a "treacherous raid by the Zionist on his residence in Tehran" accusing the Israeli government of carrying out the attack. However, Israel has not released any statement confirming or denying their responsibility.

According to IRNA News, the assassination took place around 2:00 a.m. on Wednesday, as Haniyeh was staying at a private headquarters of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard north of Tehran.

While Israel has not issued any official statements about this assassination, the Israeli Broadcasting Authority said that Ismail Haniyeh was killed by a missile launched from outside Iran.
