ALBAWABA - France is under fire for recently banning the hijab during its Olympics run angering human rights activists on social media, according to the Telegraph.
The country is currently being accused of "racist gender discrimination" by Amnesty International for banning athletes, specifically women who wear the Islamic Hijab.
Despite getting greenlit from the International Olympic Committee, France took the matter into its own hands and banned it solely in the country.

Amnesty International's Anna Bluś said, "Banning French athletes from competing with sports hijabs at the Olympic and Paralympic Games makes a mockery of claims that Paris 2024 is the first Gender Equal Olympics and lays bare the racist gender discrimination that underpins access to sport in France."

Despite facing backlash from international human rights groups including Amnesty, France doubled down and said, "Freedom of religion is interpreted in many different ways by different states," as reported by the Telegraph.
