ALBAWABA - The grandson of the late Egyptian President Gamal Abdel Nasser has made a touching message before the December 6 auction of his grandfather's gold watch.

According to sources, Gamal Khaled Gamal Abdel Nasser said that he hopes the Rolex gold watch, which is being auctioned in New York, will go to someone who appreciates his grandfather's legacy.

Gamal Khaled Abdel Nasser revealed in a letter shared by Sotheby's that his grandfather wore the watch until his death, then his grandmother, Tahia Kazem, gave it on to his father, as he was Gamal's eldest son, who also continued to wear it until his death.

He further noted that he first saw the watch in 2011, a few years before his father's death, and in return, he took the Rolex watch.

Sotheby's estimated the value of the watch at between $30,000 and $60,000, explaining that the watch is made of 18-karat yellow gold, and on its back is engraved the name "Mr Anwar Sadat" and the date "26-9-1963" in Arabic.
