ALBAWABA - Italians were shocked and angered by the rape of a 13-year-old girl by seven Egyptian migrants at a park in Catania, Human Events reported.
The teenage girl was raped in front of her boyfriend, according to reports by Italian police. In the beginning, the two were in the municipal garden of Villa Bellini when the gang approached them.
Later on, local police revealed that the seven Egyptians attacked the boy, beating him and then holding him down, while two others raped the girl as she helplessly screamed. Moments after the rape, the couple were able to flee.
According to local media, the police were able to arrest all seven Egyptian men, among which three were under the age of 18, using nearby surveillance cameras.
Three of the gang were taken to Catania Piazza Lanza prison, meanwhile, one was put under house arrest, as well as the last 3 were returned to the migrant center.
The rape case has caused public anger in Italy and many called to deport the gang back to their homeland. Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni commented on the incident: "I want to express my solidarity with her and her family. The state will be there and justice will be done."
Moreover, "chemical castration is needed for rapists and paedophiles, life imprisonment for similar episodes, as well as greater security in our cities," Italian MEP Annalisa Tardino confirmed.
