ALBAWABA - While Iranian protesters are sacrificing their lives in the streets every night since the start of the anti-regime demonstrations in Tehran, videos claiming to show the children of Iranian regime elites enjoying a lavish life in Monaco sparked a wave of anger.

A clip was posted on social media showing a man and a woman wearing pink sweaters while surrounded by guards, accompanied by a title that reads that those are the children of one of Iran's Islamic regime officials.

A person shared the footage and wrote, "The children of the Iranian Islamic regime leader living their best lives in Monaco while Iranians are persecuted & killed."

What grabbed the attention of activists was that the girl was walking freely without following the Islamic regime's dress code and without wearing a hijab, amid the massive protests that are taking place across Iran, calling for the end of the Islamic regime.

Al Bawaba News investigated the clip and confirmed that the man in the clip is Sasha Sobhani, the son of a former Iranian official, along with his girlfriend, during a trip to Monaco.

Sasha Sobhani is the son of Ahmad Sobhani, who was a senior Iranian diplomat, and previously worked as an Iranian ambassador to Venezuela.

Iran protests started on Dec. 26, 2025, against the harsh economic situation due to the strict sanctions imposed on Tehran and the 12-day war with Israel. Then, demonstrations expanded to call for the fall of the Islamic regime.

Time reported, citing two senior officials of the Iranian Ministry of Health, that about 30,000 people could have been killed in Iran on Jan. 8 and 9 alone. However, reports by Iranian media revealed that 3,117 were killed since the start of the unrest.
