Hollywood-style scene: Egyptian thief climbs down from 10th floor

ALBAWABA - An Egyptian thief has performed a Hollywood-style robbery after he climbed a residential tower towards  10th floor to rob one of the houses.

The incident took place in one of the residential towers in Cairo on Tuesday, Feb. 24, when one of the people reached the 10th floor to rob a house, but due to his bad luck, he was caught by residents.

However, once he reached a high place, he was seen by people who attempted to catch him, so he jumped from the 10th floor to the one below and landed on the air conditioner fan, then he climbed down searching for an open window to save his life.

During his dramatic scene, residents were praying for the man not to fall and die, and some even tried to help him despite his intention of coming to rob.

The Egyptian thief was arrested by the police in Cairo and was referred to the court for further investigation into the case.

Egypt's Ministry of Interior released a statement after the viral clip, "In the context of uncovering the circumstances of a video clip that was circulated on social media sites, which showed one of the individuals climbing a residential tower and attempting to steal one of the apartments in Cairo."

It added, "After examination, it was found that on the 24th of the current month, a report was received by Basateen Police Station in Cairo from residents stating that one of the individuals had climbed one of the buildings within the station’s jurisdiction and attempted to steal one of the residential apartments."

The ministry noted, "The perpetrator of the incident was arrested (unemployed – resident within the jurisdiction of Basateen Police Station). When confronted, he confessed to committing the incident in the manner referred to, with the aim of theft. Legal measures have been taken.. and the Public Prosecution has taken over the investigation."
