ALBAWABA - Google's Gemini has been causing wide controversy since its release, at the beginning, users posted that the AI tool is able to make images of Native Americans, Asians and Black people when prompted, however, it refuses to do the same for White people.

Many shared on X (formerly Twitter) widely slamming the newly released Google AI tool. With this controversy online, Indians have their own reason to criticize Google's Gemini.

RT reported that Google's Gemini has been under fire in India after it linked Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to "fascism" after a question from one of the users.

Indian users posted online that Gemini's response to a question on whether Modi is a "fascist" was shocking.

As a response to the question, the AI tool replied to the question about India's PM that Modi's policies were "characterized as fascist" by experts due to the BJP’s "Hindu nationalist ideology, crackdown on dissent, and its use of violence on religious minorities."

According to local media, New Delhi slammed Google’s Gemini and accused the AI tool of violating India’s IT laws and criminal code.

Indian Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship of India, Rajeev Chandrasekhar, posted on X regarding Google’s Gemini: "These are direct violations of Rule 3(1)(b) of Intermediary Rules (IT rules) of the IT act and violations of several provisions of the Criminal code."

Amid backlashes, Google said in a statement: "We’ve worked quickly to address this issue," clarifying that Gemini is "built as a creativity and productivity tool" and may not "always be reliable."
