ALBAWABA - The Iranian government has been under a wave of mockery on social media after mixing up the Palestinian flag with the Sudanese one during a meeting with the leader of Palestinian Islamic Jihad.
Palestinian Islamic Jihad's head Ziyad al-Nakhalah travelled to Iran to hold a meeting on Saturday to discuss developments in the Gaza Strip amid the Israeli war that was intensified on Oct. 7.
During the meeting, social media users and activists noticed that Iran mixed up flags and placed the Sudanese flag in front of Ziyad al-Nakhalah instead of the Palestinian flag.
Lebanese journalist Safaa Subhi posted a photo of the meeting and jokingly wrote about mixing the flags: "The Iranians support the establishment of a state whose flag they do not know!."
Palestinian Islamic Jihad's head arrived in Tehran on Saturday for a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran Hossein Amir-Abdollahian.
During the meeting with the Iranian Foreign Minister, Ziyad al-Nakhalah stressed the importance of the role of Iran in clarifying the Palestinian position and praised the Iranian support.
