ALBAWABA - For the first time since the pager attacks in Beirut, Mojtaba Amani, the Iranian ambassador to Lebanon, made his first public appearance.
Mojtaba Amani was seen for the first time since his injury in the September pager explosions, which Hezbollah blamed Israel for carrying out, an accusation that Tel Aviv denied at the beginning.
However, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed to his Cabinet at the weekend that he had approved the attack on Hezbollah's communications devices in September marking the first explicit Israeli claim of responsibility.
Despite that first reports allegedly claimed that the Iranian ambassador to Lebanon was killed in the pager attacks, but Tehran denied his death later on but said he lost one of his eyes and injured his hand.
Following the attack in Beirut, Amani was transferred to Tehran to undergo medical treatment.
On his first official appearance, Amani was seen with visible wounds in his left eye, while his left hand was also bandaged and his fingers -seemingly- amputated.
Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s Foreign Minister, met the Iranian ambassador to Lebanon days ahead of his return to Beirut, Mehr news agency reported.
