ALBAWABA - After news circulated that Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh was assassinated in Iran, several family members including his son, daughter, and granddaughter took to social media to commemorate and mourn him.
According to Quds News Network, his son Abdel Salam Haniyeh wrote, "My father felt martyrdom every day, and we are proud of him and hold our heads high."

Moreover, his son's wife took a video of herself mourning Haniyeh's sudden assassination in Tehran at 2:00 AM. In the video, she said how heavy her heart feels and is mourning the death of a man who needs "no introduction."
His granddaughter Saja Haniyeh shared a picture of them together and wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter), "My beloved grandpa is a martyr, I never imagined that I would be writing these words. My dearly beloved grandfather and my role model, the exceptional and generous leader at the side of his Lord."
