ALBAWABA- Rumors filled social media platforms allegedly saying that Israel is planning to construct the first synagogue (Jewish temple) in Gaza.
The allegations began when Israeli influencer Edy Cohen posted on his account on X (formerly Twitter) allegedly saying that donations are welcomed so that Israel could construct its first synagogue in Gaza.
Edy Cohen, who is followed by more than 649,000 people, wrote on X: "An appeal to collect donations to establish the first Jewish temple in Gaza. Arabs, donate to us."
The post has triggered a wave of public anger among Arabs on social media who rebuked Cohen and accused him of sharing posts to incite hate and tease Palestinians.
Since the start of the Israeli war on Gaza on Oct. 7, Israeli influencers have been sharing allegations that Israel is planning to take over Gaza and rename it "Nova City" along with destroying the houses of Palestinians and replacing them with settlements.
Alex Daniel, an entrepreneur with hundreds of thousands of followers, was believed to be one of the first to share an imagined image of how the alleged Nova city will look like after it is built, claiming that it will replace Gaza.
He wrote: "I present to you the new tourist and vacation city in the south that is going to be built soon in Israel: Nova."

The rumors are spreading as Israeli forces are storming buildings and hospitals, including Al Shifa Hospital north of Gaza.
Israel broke yesterday into Al Shifa Hospital and conducted operations after allegedly claiming that Hamas bases exist beneath the hospital.
The Gaza government released on Wednesday the latest death toll in the strip announcing that the number of people killed in the latest Israeli attacks in Gaza since Oct. 7 has surpassed 11,500 people, including 4,710 children.
Meanwhile, the Israeli army announced the death of 50 of its soldiers in Gaza since the start of the ground operation in the Strip on Oct. 27.
