ALBAWABA - Allegations have filled Social media platforms claiming that Israel is preparing an "attack" on Beirut airport and Beirut port.

In one of the posts circulated on X (formerly Twitter), a person allegedly said that Israel has warned other countries to remove its planes from Beirut airport amid preparations for a possible "attack".

Despite allegations being made online, no official Israeli source has released any statement regarding rumors, however, tension is growing between the Israeli army and Hezbollah following the Oct. 7 war in Gaza.

Nonetheless, amid tension, an old video resurfaced on social media with captions allegedly claiming that footage showed thousands of Lebanese trying to flee the country.

According to online users, thousands are afraid of rising tension and threats between Israel and Hezbollah especially following the latest speech by Hassan Nasrallah, secretary-general of Hezbollah.

Thousands of departures were seen standing in a very crowded line amid exchanged threats between the Israeli army, which has lately announced approving an "operational plan" for Lebanon.

However, many said that the footage circulating online is an old video from Beirut Airport and that many are using it just to scare Lebanese people or to only get more interaction on social media.

According to activists, the post dates back to Sept. 2, 2023, at Beirut-Rafic Al Hariri International Airport.

Last Tuesday, the Israeli military released a statement confirming that Major Generals Ori Gordin, Commander of the Northern Command, and Oded Basyuk, Head of the Operations Directorate, have approved the operational plan aimed against Lebanon.

Tension has been rising in the "Blue Line" border region between Israel and Lebanon in recent weeks.

The tension between Lebanon's Hezbollah and Israel was intensified after the latest war in the Gaza Strip on Oct. 7. Israel has carried out many airstrikes against Hezbollah's position killing many military members in the organization.

In response, Hezbollah has been launching rockets against Israel's occupied territories.
