ALBAWABA - The Committee to Protect Journalists expressed “deep concern” after an American journalist was arrested by Israeli authorities over a report on the Iranian ballistic missile attack.
American journalist Jeremy Loffredo was jailed last Tuesday over his coverage of the aftermath of an Iranian missile strike on October 1, 2024.
The Committee to Protect Journalists urged the Israeli government to immediately release him and allow other journalists to work freely.
Jeremy Loffredo, who is a freelance journalist with the independent news site The Grayzone, was arrested "on suspicion of serious security offenses for publicly posting missile landing sites near or inside sensitive security facilities to draw the enemy’s attention and thus aid them in future attacks," according to reports by The Grayzone, The Intercept, and Ynet.
According to The Grayson editor Max Blumenthal, the American journalist was released from jail after four days but he won't be allowed to leave Israel until October 20, The Intercept added.
This comes amid news on Monday, Oct. 14, that the Israeli Police and Shin Bet announced the arrest of two Israelis from Ramat Gan, north of Tel Aviv, on charges of collaborating with Iran.
