ALBAWABA - Newly elected Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi gifted US President Donald Trump a golf bag signed by Hideki Matsuyama and a putter by the late Shinzo Abe during his visit to Tokyo, as part of his ongoing Asia trip.

Hideki Matsuyama is a professional golfer who plays on the PGA Tour. He became the first Japanese golfer to win a men's major golf championship as part of the 2021 Masters Tournament.

A video shared by Margo Martin on X (formerly Twitter) captured the moment as Trump thanked Takaichi for the gift. Additionally, upon gifting him Abe's putter, the US President recalled his friendship with the former Japanese Prime Minister, who was assassinated in 2022, describing him as a "great man."

As part of his Tokyo visit, Trump and Takaichi signed two documents declaring a "new golden age" of the US-Japan alliance and an agreement on the supply of critical minerals and rare earths, as reported by the Washington Post and AP.
