ALBAWABA - Supreme Leader of Iran Ali Khamenei launched his first X account in the Hebrew language shortly following the Israeli attack on Iran on Saturday morning.
Yesterday, Israeli fighter jets and drones struck military sites in Iran for the first time in decades. The Tel Aviv retaliation attack comes less than a month after Iran carried out a ballistic missile attack on Israel on October 1.
The October 1 "surprise" attack came in revenge for the series of attacks by Israel that killed leaders in Hezbollah, Hamas and IRGC commanders in the past few months.
Following Israel's attack on Oct. 26, Tehran revealed that it is "entitled and obliged to defend itself" after Israel's retaliatory airstrikes. On the other hand, US President Joe Biden hopes that Israel's latest attack would mark the end of a months-long escalation between the two countries.
Khamenei launched X account in Hebrew, what was his first post?
The account's name on X is "Khamenei.ir Hebrew" and he is followed by over 9,000 people less than a day after launching the account on Elon Musk's platform.
The bio which is also in Hebrew reads: "The supreme leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran."
Ali Khamenei shared his first post on Oct. 26, his first words in Hebrew were: "In the name of Allah, the Merciful and the Merciful." The post gained 805,000 views and more than 7,000 likes as well as over 2,000 reposts.
Many social media users allegedly said that the account in Hebrew could mean a possible escalation from Iran against Israel in the upcoming period.
On the other hand, the Jerusalem Post revealed that the ZAKA official account commented on Khamenei's first Hebrew post with a line from the Jewish Kaddish prayer for the dead.
The Israeli newspaper claimed that this could be a hint that Khamenei's end may be close taking into consideration Israel's latest attacks on Hezbollah and Hamas leaders.
