Waking up to the news of a horrific crime in which a father killed his daughter near Amman on Friday evening, Jordanians once again targeted local laws that exonerate murderers "if they are proven to be in a fit of rage”.
To make matters worse he then sat next to her dead body, drank tea and smoked a cigarette while her uncles came to applaud the father for what he did. I wish I can tell you that this is a one off and that we don’t hear stories like this everyday.

Using the Hashtag (#صرخات_أحلام: Ahlam's screams), Jordanians have been tweeting heavily, mourning yet another victim of what was locally termed as "honor crime", after police statement announced that a woman in her 40s died of injuries caused by her father on Friday.
Ahlam was reportedly injured using a sharp tool before she took to the street screaming for neighbors' help before her father used a concrete block to smash her head while in the street.
According to neighbors who videotaped the incident helplessly, Ahlam's brothers stopped anyone from helping her as they watched their father take a cup of tea near Ahlam's dead body briefly afterward until the police made it to the crime scene.
A picture is worth 1000 words. Honor killings are a mockary of religions when they all preach mercy, the father took the word “mercy” and manipulated it to being about “Justice." This isn’t justice. Justice is when the Jordanian courts find her father guilty #صرخات_احلام pic.twitter.com/yrMZgtTL7T

Toxic masculinity is loud and alive in the Arab world. It feeds on the victim fear. Lots of women are voiceless and afraid to speak up about thier terror.

And there are no strict rules or protection laws that will stop the terrorist from abusing his victim.#صرخات_احلام pic.twitter.com/rxIg1JZutE
Public outrage following neighbors and paramedics' posts on social media detailing the horrors they experienced, Jordanians expressed their frustration over continuous crimes against women in the country.

Do you want this world to develop for the better, with these mentalities that encourage killing women? I think a strict law should be established with these brains like execution pic.twitter.com/u4Zh7f3B4Q
Social media users tweeted demanding stricter laws in order to stop men from killing their wives, sisters, and daughters. They also highlighted articles in the Jordanian criminal penal code that exonerate murder crimes committed during "a fit of rage".
Jordanians are calling for a repeal of constitutional articles 98 and 99 in this hashtag: #الغاء_المادة_٩٨و٩٩_من_قانون_العقوبات

They allow for men to be exonerated of murder charges if they were proven to be done “in a fit of rage”...@hrw report here: https://t.co/Rvqxez7cMY pic.twitter.com/1QN0yAyoCU
At a loss for words. All I’m asking is what breeds this kind of hatred?
