aALBAWABA - As the war in the Gaza Strip entered its 331 day, videos and photos have been circulating on social media of monkeys wandering among ruins in the north of Gaza.
In the beginning, some people from Gaza posted pictures and clips showing monkeys over some destroyed buildings in northern Gaza was doubted as unbelievable by many people.
However, what was more questionable was the place where the monkeys appeared from amid the ongoing war on the strip which left 40,738 Palestinians killed since Oct. 7.
Monkeys are spreading in northern Gaza, what is happening?
Many theories emerged on social media platforms, especially on X (formerly Twitter), regarding the place where the monkeys came from.
A video of monkeys in the Gaza Strip was posted on X with the caption: "Another clip shows and confirms the presence of several monkeys in northern Gaza."
The user maintained: "We don't know where it came from or how it spread!"
A group of people called people in northern Gaza to be careful allegedly claiming that the Israeli army could have released them to transmit diseases and accelerate their spread among people.
Meanwhile, other people reportedly said that the monkeys could have escaped from zoos in the neighbouring settlements of the Gaza Strip.
