ALBAWABA - During an interview with CBS's 60 Minutes show, two former Mossad agents revealed the details behind Israel's recent "Pager plot" on Lebanon's Hezbollah.

The "Pager plot" was executed on Sept. 17, 2024, which consisted of selling Hezbollah thousands of rigged pagers that later detonated, resulting in the killing of at least 42 people, and injuring more than 4,000, according to the Lebanese government.

During the interview, both Mossad agents were wearing black masks and spoke with altered voices to cover their identities.

According to the Jerusalem Post, the plan commenced over 10 years ago after the Mossad weaponized Hezbollah's pagers by placing explosives inside their batteries. The agent who went by the name "Michael" explained, "A walkie-talkie was a weapon just like a bullet or a missile," he added, "Inside the battery, there is an explosive device… made in Israel."

He linked the operation to Jim Carrey's "The Truman Show," since they were the "directors, producers, and main actors" of the "Pager Plot," further adding that the world was their stage.

Moreover, fellow agent "Gabriel" explained that Mossad shifted its focus from walkie-talkies to pagers since Hezbollah used them for their simplicity and difficulty in hacking.

Gabriel added that Mossad created a fake ad campaign advertising the bulky pagers through YouTube ads despite its superiors being skeptical at first. He said, "Our director told us, 'There is no chance anyone will buy such a big device.'

The agent later admitted that this kind of operation won't work again but issued a heavy warning to whoever stands in Israel's way and said, "Don’t mess with us."
