ALBAWABA - SpaceX and Tesla CEO Elon Musk recently stirred controversy on social media after announcing that he is canceling his Netflix subscription due to claims that the streaming service is promoting "woke" content to children.
In response, the incident sparked a viral trend of people following Musk's decision, with users taking to X (formerly known as Twitter) to urge others to cancel and boycott Netflix.
The trend erupted after parents noticed that Netflix's children's show 'Dead End: Paranormal Park' featured a character named Barney Guttman, who said they are trans, happier than ever, and determined to live unapologetically.
Musk cancels Netflix: Causes a spree of boycott calls over 'pro-trans' cartoon
In response to the X post shared by 'Libs of TikTok,' Elon Musk retweeted the video and said, "This is not ok."
Many right-wing social media users on the platform also voiced the same opinion as Musk's, stating that the show is trying to "push pro-trans propaganda." An X user wrote, "IT’S TIME TO CANCEL AND BOYCOTT NETFLIX."
Another added, "They’re grooming kids. The scary part is how prevalent this is in kid’s shows. They’re infected."
On the contrary, another fellow X user opposed their views and said, "elon suddenly trying to boycott netflix over a cartoon that already got cancelled years ago feels like when they all suddenly pretended to care about some squirrel being put down."
"Cancel Netflix" also went viral on X, as more and more individuals urged others to cancel and boycott the streaming platform.
