ALBAWABA - Heartbreaking videos and photos are still emerging online following Morocco's deadly earthquake on Friday night. However, an unconfirmed video showing a man pulling a newborn baby was said to be taken in Morocco.
A video was virally shared online showing a man digging in the debris and pulling out a newborn baby whose placenta is still attached to his belly. Amid a huge shock and screams from people around.
Many people were confused about the video and some claimed that it was taken in Morocco a day after the deadly 6.8-magnitude earthquake which killed over 2000 people.
However, the video is likely to be not taken in Morocco as people in the footage were not heard speaking Arabic or French, which are the most common languages in Morocco. Some social media users alleged that it was possibly taken in India or Pakistan.
Nevertheless, activists warned that these kinds of videos will be popular after the deadly Morocco earthquake from people who only want to gain interaction and followers on the internet.
Morocco's Interior Ministry refreshed the death toll in the powerful earthquake saying at least 2,012 people were killed and 2,059 injured.
According to the National Geophysical Institute, the Morcco earthquake is described as the strongest quake to hit the North African nation in more than a century.
The United States Geological Survey (USGS) confirmed the epicenter, which hit just after 11 p.m. local time, was 75 kilometers (46.6 miles) southeast of Marrakech, at a depth of 18.5 kilometers.
