Search is still going on for Palestinian dancer Ayman Saffieh, 29 years old, who disappeared at sea after being on one of Haifa's beaches last Sunday.

Prayers and calls for a safe return filled social media since the beginning of the week, in addition to sharing videos and stories of Saffieh's dance journey.

Saffieh, who challenged stereo-types to become the first male ballerina in Palestine, is a professional dancer and choreographer born in Kufur Yassif in Galilee.

Israeli police has been searching for Saffieh and has sent out an announcement with a full description of his features asking people to help in the search, while Palestinian activists have been accusing them of not putting enough effort in their search.

Translation: 'To Captain Ayman Saffieh, who disappeared in the sea of Haifa!"

Activists were especially angry after Palestinian fishers, who went into the sea looking for Saffieh, were fined 500 shekels as fishing is prohibited in that area.

After finishing his studies at an Israeli dance institute, Ayman traveled to London in 2009 to continue his education there until 2012, insisting on becoming a professional dancer and pursuing his life long passion for physical expression tied to his personality and identity.

Many Arab citizens of Israel self-identify as Palestinian and commonly self-designate themselves as Palestinian citizens of Israel or Israeli Palestinians.
