Paris Mayor quits X over disinformation, anti-Semitism

ALBAWABA - Anne Hidalgo, the Mayor of Paris, has announced on her official X account that she will no longer use the Elon Musk-owned social media platform. 

Hidalgo posted on Nov. 27 that she is leaving X (formerly Twitter) as she accused the platform of inciting hate and spreading disinformation as well as the promote of anti-semitic speech.

She posted: "I have made the decision to leave Twitter."

She continued to explain the motivation behind her decision: "Far from being the revolutionary tool which, initially, allowed access to information for the greatest number of people, Twitter has in recent years become the weapon of mass destruction of our democracies."

Paris Mayor further noted: "Manipulation, disinformation, amplification of impulses of hatred, organized harassment, anti-Semitism and proven racism, packs attacking scientists, climatologists, women, ecologists, progressives and all those of goodwill who wish for a peaceful and peaceful political debate. appeased in an increasingly complex world: the list of abuses is endless."

Hidalgo also accused the X platform and its owner Elon Musk, who is also facing criticism for allegedly promoting an anti-semitic post of "deliberately acting to exacerbate tensions and conflicts."
