ALBAWABA - A fake image of Adolf Hitler posing like former US president Donald Trump after his recent assassination attempt in Pennslyvania went viral, triggering a swarm of comments from social media users.

The photo in question showcased Hitler striking the same pose as Donald Trump when he was nearly assassinated by 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks after a bullet nearly hit his head, grazing his ear. Both photos looked quite similar but with obvious changes to look out for.

For example, the American flag in Trump's viral photo was replaced by Nazi Germany's flag in Hitler's one. Moreover, Hitler's image was made in black and white in reference to the time Nazi Germany's leader was alive.

Similarities included Trump and Hitler doing the same pose while security agents tried to protect them from stray bullets, in comparison to the recent Pennsylvania rally incident.

On the other hand, the male Secret Service agent in Trump's photo was replaced with the chief propagandist of the Nazi Party, Joseph Goebbels in Hitler's one.

A website named Snopes concluded that Hitler's image was in fact "fake" and was made from a series of other photos put together in the form of a collage.

They also referenced a university professor named Hany Farid who specializes in digital forensics and image analysis as he investigated the photo and shared it on his LinkedIn account.

He said, "With our GetReal Labs model trained to distinguish real from AI-generated images and found no evidence of AI-generation or manipulation." But added that Photoshop was used to manipulate the image in question.

Another user on X (formerly known as Twitter) claimed that both photos were fake by saying that Trump's assassination attempt was all an act to get him more votes.
