ALBAWABA - A decent number of social media users took to platforms such as X to comment on an ongoing issue in the professional sports scene which is: "Should Trans people play women's sports?"

Social media users call for ban of Trans people in sports

This all comes after several users stated how "unfair" it is for men who transitioned to play in women's professional sports for "scientific reasons" including "different muscle mass" and "physical abilities," especially in more violent sports such as the UFC, Rugby and American football.

One user on X stated: "Women need to start refusing to play when a trans player is on the field. It’s only a matter of time before a woman gets killed from this." The user states how dangerous this could become as the difference could result in killing a person, referring to a recent rugby game where a trans person, tackled one of the women on the other team aggressively.

A woman on X stated "I played rugby in college (late ‘70s, tight-head prop). No woman should ever play rugby with a man. Ever."

According to Rebel News Online, a recent volleyball game included five individuals who transitioned to women who dominated the court "especially when it came to spiking the ball." The news outlet went on to report that "the sheer force of a man’s volleyball attack is much more powerful than one of a biological women’s force."

In addition, the news outlet stated that "Again, much like rugby and swimming, men pretending to be women are destroying female sports."

The Rip Curl Trans controversy and boycott calls

Surfing brand Rip Curl has recently received backlash from users across the internet after promoting a trans athlete named Sasha Lowerson in a post that was later taken down by the company. The backlash then resulted in the call for boycotts of the company as they replaced another surfer called Bethany Hamilton.

According to Talk TV, Rip Curl said that it removed Bethany from its advertising campaigns amid her stance on the trans situation after claiming that trans surfers have a biological advantage over females and said: "We are seeing glimpses of male-bodied dominance in women's sports like running, swimming, and others."

Moreover, Bethany also threatened to boycott the World Surf League after the decision to allow trans women to compete against females.
