After making a rare video appearance in which she called on American women, especially women of color to cast their votes in the next US elections, American actress and member of the British Royal family Meghan Markle stirred public outrage among some British online commentators, who demanded that the Queen of England strips the Duchess of Sussex of the royal title, suggesting that "she is interfering in foreign elections."

During the When All Women Vote online event to encourage women to vote in the next presidential elections in the US, statements made by the American actress and Duchess of Sussex have ignited very conflicting reactions.

While the Duchess's words were hailed as "strong and influential" by some social media commentators, many others considered it a "wrong intervention in foreign politics," especially the popular English broadcaster Piers Morgan.

Even though her speech didn't explicitly endorse any of the candidates, Markle was quickly labeled as "a campaigner against US President Donald Trump." Moreover, attacks on Markle accused her of being an associate of former First Lady Michelle Obama and of mobilizing the public to vote for the democratic nominee Joe Biden.

Additionally, some British publications went on to claim that Michelle Obama had inspired Markle's decision to leave the royal family last year,

This wasn't the first time that Piers Morgan takes an aim at the Duchess of Sussex, as he had previously launched several attacks on Meghan Markle, calling her "a shameless piece of work” and accusing her of "splitting Harry from William."

Before Prine Harry and his wife Markle decided to leave the royal family and relocate to Los Angeles "seeking a more private life," Morgan had also appeared on TV calling on the Duchess to leave the UK if she wants privacy "because she is American."
