ALBAWABA - As the war in Sudan is about to mark its first year, a Sudanese footballer player has shocked the world after leaving his dream behind and announced joining the armed forces.
Footballer Amar Safari posted on his official Facebook account that he is proud of himself as he is defending his homeland.
Safari posted photos of himself carrying a rifle and wearing an armed suit and wrote: "In the past, people dreamed of wearing the national team’s uniform and defending the slogan they wore, but thank God, the man is proud of himself that one day he will defend the homeland in the army’s uniform."
Many football players in Sudan have left their country since the start of the conflict which began on April 15, 2023, between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), with the aim to catch their dream and explore more chances away from the war.
However, Amar Safari, the Al-Ahly Khartoum player, who wore the shirt of the famous Al-Hilal club and the Olympic team, announced leaving his national team's t-shirt and joining the army.

War in Sudan
The war in Sudan erupted last April between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF), which is led by General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), headed by Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, also known as Hemedti.
The United Nations reported that the latest wave of violence has left at least 12,000 people killed by the end of 2023, but the actual death toll is believed to be higher.
On Wednesday, the UN urged for $4.1 billion in aid to help Sudan preclude famine and assist those who have fled to neighboring countries. "We must not forget Sudan," Martin Griffiths, UN Emergency Relief Coordinator said.
