ALBAWABA - German player and Real Madrid star Toni Kroos has landed in hot water after he refused to wear a victory t-shirt with an Arabic word printed on it.

Real Madrid was crowned yesterday after winning the Spanish Super Cup following a 4-1 thrashing of FC Barcelona. The game took place at Al Awal Park Stadium in the Saudi capital, Riyadh.

After victory in the Spanish Super Cup, all Real Madrid players wore a t-shirt with the word "الأبطال" (which means heroes) written on it, except for Toni Kroos, who refused to wear a top with an Arabic word.

However, this is not the first time Kroos has stirred debate among Arab fans, earlier he criticized players who moved to play in Saudi Arabia such as former Real Madrid player Cristiano Ronaldo, and Brazilian footballer Neymar, who plays for Al Hilal SFC.

The Saudi crowd bowed down Kross during the game between Barcelona and Real Madrid yesterday when the coach of the team switched between him and Luka Modrić. Meanwhile, when Modrić entered the court, happy cheers were heard in the stadium.

A person commented: "The best thing that happened was that the Saudi public whistled at him and made him know that he was not welcome in Islamic countries."
