ALBAWABA - An alegged Iraqi transgender blogger who goes by the name of Semsem was stabbed to death in Iraq by a group of unknown individuals which took place in southern Iraq.
According to security sources, the incident took place yesterday Feb. 14, 2024, in the afternoon specifically at the center of Diwaniyah. The individuals responsible for the murder were equipped with a sharp knife as he stabbed the transgender person several times in the abdomen until they died.
The culprit later fled the scene with nowhere to be found but authorities claimed to have opened an investigation in search of the murderer. Additionally, since the murderer fled the scene, it's still unknown what drove the individuals to commit such a heinous act.

Semsem didn't hide the fact that they associate with the LGBTQ community as they wore feminine clothing, and makeup and occasionally danced in a feminine manner on their official TikTok account.
According to Erem News, a source told the news outlet that Semsem who was 28, used to reside in Turkey fr eight years before coming back home to Diwaniyah, Iraq where he was stabbed to death two days later.
The individual apparently received a plethora of death threats before getting killed which warned Semsem of the consequences of returning to Iraq.

This could be a reason why the individual attacked and stabbed Semsem, especially since they reside in Iraq, which is a Muslim-majority country where such things are considered forbidden and frowned upon being part of the LGBTQ community including being gay, transgender, bisexual, and more.
