As millions around the world tune in to watch one of their favorite holiday classics, creators of Home Alone 2: Lost in New York spoke to the Insider about their memories of the 28-year old movie, including details of the famous scene, in which the sitting US President Donald Trump made a brief appearance in one of the shots.

Celebrating the 30th anniversary of the two Christmas movies, the director Chris Columbus reminisced about filming the two sequels of the movie still highly watched every December. Amongst the stories he highlighted was a description of the circumstances that led to Donald Trump's scene with Macaulay Culkin.
In the interview that was widely shared across social media, the director revealed that the then-businessman and owner of the Plaza Hotel where a number of scenes were shot had directly told the crew that "allowing them to shoot in the hotel means that he should be featured in the movie."

According to the Insider report, the cinematographer Chris Columbus added that Trump's request came despite the fact that the crew had paid the required fee needed to shoot in the hotel that was owned by Trump at that time.
Recently, the two Home Alone movies are being re-watched all across the world as their events are all based at Christmas time, making both sequels amongst the holiday's most-watched movies every year.
