ALBAWABA - Stephen Semler, co-founder of the Security Policy Reform Institute, called the US-built floating pier at the Gaza border "complete theater." The humanitarian assistance pier has been criticized for failing to deliver.

Semler called the temporary pier system a "failure" for failing to transport supplies to Gaza, which President Joe Biden has criticized. "The Biden administration focused on this port project instead of pressuring Israel to allow additional assistance via the land border. Semler said the temporary port is theater.

After the October 7, 2023 Hamas assault, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant declared a complete blockade on Gaza, cutting off food, water, and power. He blamed Israel alone for the terrible situation.

Israel says "some gangs and saboteurs target aid vehicles," although Semler noted that such events did not occur before October 7. Before that period, humanitarian groups did not have any challenges transporting supplies to Gaza.

Semler stated that Israel may claim that "some gangs and saboteurs target aid vehicles," but humanitarian groups did not have similar difficulty bringing supplies to Gaza before October 7.

Semler said that the Pentagon only unloaded assistance to Gaza via the floating dock after arriving in the Southern Cyprus Greek Administration. He observed that many items deteriorated in the sun.

Semler highlighted the difficulties humanitarian groups have transporting goods from the Gaza shore storage facility to people in need, saying, "The US military and Biden administration exacerbated this predicament. Most Gaza explosives are US-made."

American armament sales contributed to the catastrophe, but Semler said they unfairly blame humanitarian groups scrambling to provide supplies to Palestinians under one of the worst attacks.

Semler said that the Pentagon is attempting to seem to have delivered humanitarian help, saying, "They merely want to appear like relief supplies arrived at their makeshift pier. They don't care what follows." He labeled the Biden administration's operation a "smokescreen".

In his perspective, the temporary pier project is a "humanitarian aid farce." The US government may compel Israel to negotiate a truce, but it distracts the public.
