ALBAWABA - A video from the G7 meeting has sparked wide debate on social media after U.S. President Donald Trump was seen holding hands with French First Lady Brigitte Macron.
A clip caused a huge fuss online after Trump was seen shaking hands with Brigitte, 73, and kissing the U.S. president upon welcoming him at the Group of 7 meeting in Evian, eastern France.
The G7 leaders will be discussing several topics, including the war between Russia and Ukraine, in addition to the conflicts in the Middle East.
A person on X posted the clip and wrote, "Why is Trump holding hands with France's first lady Brigitte Macron in front of her husband? Did he just need help walking down, or did he think for a minute it's Melania? Something is terribly off with Trump. Is it just dementia or more than that?"
While many attacked Trump and accused him of thinking she was Melania instead of Brigitte, and joked that he thought she was his wife. Others defended the U.S. leader, saying the French First Lady was abandoned by her own husband and Trump was brave enough to walk her down the platform.
One X user commented on the clip, "Note - Macron was abandoning his wife. Very considerate of Trump to not allow Macron to just walk off stage with Trump and leave his wife behind. Macron is not a man, and it shows in how he treats his wife. It's weak men (like Macron) who mistreat women. Not strong men."
Furthermore, another said, "Maybe Trump is showing his support for Brigitte as First Lady of France, amidst the high profile controversary of her being called out as a transgender woman."
