ALBAWABA - Unconfirmed reports emerged on the X platform (formerly Twitter) claiming that Abu Obaida, the spokesperson for the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, was killed in an Israeli airstrike in Gaza.
Abu Obaida has been the spokesperson of the military wing of Hamas since at least 2007 and he has gained more fame following the October 7 attack that was carried by Al-Qassam Brigades against Israel.
Was Abu Obaida killed in an Israeli airstrike in Gaza?
Many X accounts have been sharing the allegation and saying: "Hamas spokesperson Abu Obaida has been Eliminated by an Israeli Airstrike on the Gaza Strip!"
Another X account wrote: "It's unconfirmed at this time, but if true, this is absolutely huge."
Despite that the rumor has been trending on social media, however, the Israeli army has not released any statement regarding the alleged claim about the fate of Abu Obaida.
Nonetheless, Hamas has not issued a denial or confirmation.
Days ago the Israeli army also announced the killing of Al-Qassam Brigades Leader Mohammed Deif in an airstrike in mid-July in Khan Yunis. However, Hamas said that the fate of Hamas members is only decided by the resistance movement itself.
