ALBAWABA - The Jordanian government announced on Sunday a deadly attack on American soldiers residing in a base, known as Tower 22, in north-east Jordan leading to the death of 3 troops and dozens of injuries.
Jordanian Minister of Government Communications Muhannad Mubaidin condemned the "terrorist" attack and extended condolences to the US and families of the victims.
In return, President of the US Joe Biden said following the news of the deadly drone attack on American troops in northeast Jordan, "We shall respond". Furthermore, CNN reported citing a statement by the US Central Command, that three service members were killed and at least 34 injured in an attack that "impacted at a base in northeast Jordan."
CENTCOM further noted that the American government has immediately evacuated eight members to get better medical care.
Despite that the Islamic Resistance in Iraq has claimed responsibility for the attack on American soldiers on Tower 22 outpost on the Jordanian-Syrian border, the US accused Iran of being linked to the attack.

Iran today denied being linked to the deadly attack that targeted soldiers at Tower 22 in northeast Jordan after Biden accused the Islamic Republic of being linked to the drone strike.
Iranian foreign ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani said in a press conference regarding accusations by the U.S. and the U.K.: "These claims are made with specific political goals to reverse the realities of the region and also indicate that they are influenced by third parties, including the child-killing Zionist regime."
Joe Biden said in an earlier speech accusing Iran of being involved in the attack: "We will hold all those responsible to account at a time and in a manner our choosing."
What do we know about Tower 22?
Tower 22, which is not a very popular base, has an important location in Jordan as it is located near the al-Tanf garrison, which houses a small number of American soldiers across the border in Syria, The Guardian reported on Monday.
Tower 22 is located on the north-eastern point of Jordan, in a very close area between the Jordanian border with Syria and Iraq.
Al-Tanf base in Syria is known for its key role in fighting the Islamic State (ISIS) and has assumed a role as part of a US strategy to contain Iran’s military buildup in eastern Syria.
Furthermore, according to The Guardian, the Tower 22 outpost is near the al-Tanf garrison in order to support US troops there, while also potentially countering Iran-backed militants in the area and allowing troops to keep an eye on remnants of IS in the region.
