ALBAWABA - Hamas recently went viral on social media after two users on Musk's X (formerly known as Twitter) clashed together on opposing views. The debate centered around Israel's aggression on Gaza since Oct. 7, 2023, which was recently halted due to a ceasefire agreement between the Palestinian resistance group and Israel, giving rise to the phrase "When Hamas visits my family."
It all started when a pro-Palestine X user named "Jords," took to their account and wrote showcasing solidarity with the Palestinian people amid 15 months of grueling war, "Irish people are not “pretending they’re as oppressed as the Palestinians” you stupid colonial brained yanks n Brits quote tweeting me. You wouldn’t understand this as it involves learning the meaning of solidarity of which you have none."
This prompted a pro-Israel X user named "malou" to reply with, "Waiting for Hamas to visit you and your family," which triggered the viral trend in question as the post garnered more than 31 million views on Musk's social media platform.
"When Hamas Visits My Family": New viral trend swarms Musk's X
Instead of taking offense towards the comment, pro-Palestine users swarmed X with photos of delicious food and a cozy family atmosphere showcasing that they would welcome Hamas with open arms and hospitality. Additionally, several others flooded the social media platform with satirical responses including a user posting pictures of the time an Israeli hostage kissed a Hamas member on the forehead as gratitude.
Another added photos welcoming the Palestinian resistance group to a "halal" barbecue, which garnered more than 120,000 likes and over 2.3 million views. They wrote, "Me when Hamas visits me and my family (all halal, of course)."
Someone even pointed out "learning a lot about global cuisines" as the posts came from people worldwide, who showcased their culture through food and hospitality.
In the last 15 months, the Israeli aggression on Gaza has resulted in the killing of at least 48,339 Palestinians and has left more than 111,753 injured. Moreover, Palestinian medics and rescue teams are still retrieving bodies from under the rubble in Gaza as the numbers increase, according to the health ministry.
